[ARCHIVED] Protect Yourself from Scams

During tough times, water utility customers have sometimes been targeted by scammers. Our customer’s safety is a top priority for Padre Dam, and we want to make sure that you know how to identify a Padre Dam employee and when to be cautious about disclosing personal information.

Over the phone, please be cautious about disclosing personal information such as your credit card information or social security number. Be aware that scammers are sometimes able to mask their phone number or caller identification name with one you know and trust.

The easiest way to ensure that you are talking to a Padre Dam staff member is get the employee’s name, then call the Customer Service phone number at 619.448.3111. From here, you can be directed to the person who you would like to speak with.

In person, a Padre Dam employee will likely be displaying a Padre Dam logo on their vehicle, shirt or hat. All employees are required to carry Padre Dam identification cards and will be happy to provide them upon request.

While a Padre Dam employee may come to your door, they will never try to enter your house or ask for payment in person. If you are unsure of whether a person is a Padre Dam employee, you are encouraged to call Customer Service during normal business hours at 619.448.3111 to confirm the identity of an employee.
